The term ‘new year resolutions’ has taken a beating over the years. So much so that most people are averse to it and some no struggle to commit to the changes they aspire to make. One of the things coaching and consulting has taught over the year is this…
Tomorrow’s victories will be determined not by the resolutions made every new year but by the decisions made every day of the year!
Here are four things you can do to help you make the most of your year as you boldly go after achieving your personal and professional goals:
1. Be True To Yourself
Be tenaciously true to who you are.You will not enjoy being anything else.Honour yourself with your decisions and what you accept from others.
2. Make Sure The Path You Choose is Yours
Face the future with absolute certainty that the path you have chosen to walk is the path you really want. Do not waste precious time doing things that give you no satisfaction and fail to propel you towards your desired destination.
3. Be Clear and Intentional About Your Goals
If you haven’t already done so, take a few hours or days to contemplate and write down what you really want to do, who you want to become and what you want to accomplish this year. Grab your journal, notebook, laptop or iPad and set some goals. Follow the goals with some workable plans and then go for it!
4. Commit to Your Own Success
Goal-setting does not have to complicated or difficult. Keep the goals simple and tailored to your personality and your dreams. But make them big enough to challenge your creativity. Then dare boldly and make a 100% commitment to yourself to make your goals a reality, knowing that there is a price to pay for failing to live your best life.
Sure, there will be great times and difficult times. But it is all part of the process of growth and development. Take every day as a brand new gift filled with promise and potential. Make of it what you will and it will be what you make of it. Make every day an adventure and every single day will be more exciting than the last!
